While most online resources and apps target pre-schoolers and early primary years, they are also useful to teach older children. The listed resources are both suitable for home teaching and classroom learning, if you are looking for additional English worksheets that your child can use in English lessons in school.
US based apps and learning programmes:
Starfall is a great early years learning resource, offering a number of free interactive games and other activities. http://www.starfall.com/
http://www.education.com/ is a complete preK through to grade 5 learning programme based on the US primary curriculum and offers some free resources and a wealth of work sheets (subscription).
UK based apps and learning programmes:
The UK based educational company Twinkl offers a subscription learning programme from ages 0-16, which follows the national curriculum: twinkl.co.uk. It doesn’t come cheap but offers a wealth of resources and great worksheets also for older children.
Reading:

The UK based resource Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities. Some free worksheets. http://readingeggs.co.uk/ (subscription),
‘Teach your Monster to read’ is a popular UK based website with a series of free phonics games, backed by the Usborne Foundation. http://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com.
Phonics:
Galactic Phonics offers free worksheets, interactive activities and other resources to support teaching and learning English phonics.
Other popular phonics websites and apps for early years include: Jolly Phonics Letter Sounds, Mr Thorne Does Phonics – a phonics app developed by a UK teacher. It uses YouTube and mobile apps. Hip Hop Hen has released a series of fun "abc learning games".
Children's TV star Justin Fletcher developed the Justin's World Lettersounds phonics app; book publisher Penguin has its Ladybird: I'm Ready for Phonics app; and the Oxford Reading Tree book series featuring Biff, Chip and Kipper are also available as app.
